What is Farnborough International Airshow Connect (FIA Connect)?

Farnborough International Airshow Connect is a five day programme of high quality content, collaboration, thought leadership and industry insight; connecting the global aerospace industry online.

FIA Connect is a virtual programme of free-to-attend conferences, networking and promotional opportunities.

We’re taking the highlights of the Farnborough International Airshow, including the FINN Sessions and Meet the Buyer programme, and bringing them to you online.

Who will be attending FIA Connect?

FIA Connect is designed as a forum for the aerospace and defence industry, welcoming businesses from throughout the supply chain.

Our Farnborough Friday programme will welcome students, graduates, young professionals and members of the public to share in an exciting showcase of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) designed to give those considering a career in aerospace unprecedented access to the industry.

Through our biennial Airshow, Farnborough International has been privileged to serve as a platform for connecting the world of aerospace and defence, this is our way of providing support to industry at a time when we cannot meet.

Registration FAQs

What does my pass give me access to?

By registering for a Trade Visitor pass at FIA Connect, you will have access to the full programme of FINN Sessions, Global Urban Air Summit 2.0, ADS, and Farnborough Friday, as well as partner events.

Your pass will also give you access to our networking programme, enabling you to request meetings with any of the Participants showcased at FIA Connect. 

The networking programme is due to go live closer to the event and the FIA Connect team will be sending joining instructions and guidance notes to all registrants once the programme is live.

Do I need to register a pass for every day of FIA Connect?

No. All trade passes for FIA Connect are valid for all five days of the event, meaning that you have access to the full programme of sessions taking place across the FINN Sessions, Global Urban Air Summit 2.0, ADS, and Farnborough Friday, as well as partner events.

Can I register with the same email address multiple times?

No. Your access to the FIA Connect platform and each of the sessions taking place throughout FIA Connect week is linked to the email address you use to register for the event. Therefore, you can only register with each email address once.

Event Programme FAQs

When will the programme for FIA Connect be finalised?

The FIA Connect team is working hard to bring you access to a wide range of unique sessions and events that explore and debate the status of the aerospace, defence, space and security sectors as they stand today.

In addition to the events already listed on the FIA Connect programme, we have an exciting number of programmes, sessions and speakers still to be announced, and will be making additions to the agenda right up until FIA Connect week.

So make sure you keep checking the agenda to stay up to date with all the latest information.

What is the capacity of the sessions for FIA Connect?

Due to the wide ranging nature of content that FIA Connect delivers, there will be a blend of unlimited/open access events as well as limited capacity events throughout the week.

Events with limited capacity will be identified in their session descriptions.

In order to access any of the sessions during FIA Connect, you will need to pre-register your attendance by clicking either ‘Join Session’ or ‘Reserve a Seat’ when viewing the agenda.

Therefore, we recommend signing up early to ensure your place at any of our sessions.

Do I need to register to attend individual sessions for FIA Connect?

Yes. In order to access any of the sessions during FIA Connect, you will need to pre-register your attendance by clicking either ‘Join Session’ or ‘Reserve a Seat’ when viewing the agenda anywhere on the FIA Connect platform.

This will ensure that you have access to the session stream when it goes live on FIA Connect week.

Can I add sessions I have registered for to my calendar?

Yes. Once you have registered for a session, you will be able to export the session to your calendar.

In order to do this, simply refresh the page once you have registered and view the details of the session to see a button labelled ‘Export to’. If you click this button, you will be given the option to add the session to your chosen calendar.

I can no longer attend a session I registered for – will I be able to see the content at a later date?

Yes. The majority of content from FIA Connect will be available on-demand for registered users following the end of the show on 24th July 2020.

If you have registered for a session and can no longer attend, we would appreciate it if you could cancel your reservation for that session so that  others can attend.

I would like to be a speaker at FIA Connect – how do I get involved?

All of the speaker slots for FIA Connect have now been filled.

If you are a Participant company and you have an event that you would like to share as part of the "Other Events" programme, please fill out an Application Form and read our guide to Sharing Your Events at FIA Connect.

However, if your business is not a Participant at FIA Connect and you would like to run a session, you can still create and publicise your event across social media using #FIAConnect to share it with the FIA Connect audience.
 

Participant FAQs

How do I qualify for a Participant profile?

Participant profiles are available to those companies who were due to exhibit at the Farnborough International Airshow 2020. If you were due to exhibit at FIA 2020 and have not yet received instructions on how to register as a Participant for the event, please contact your Account Manager.

Which pass type should I register for?

To ensure that building and managing your profile throughout FIA Connect runs smoothly, we recommend that plan which of your team members will be on hand to manage your Participant profile and accept meeting requests before registering for the event.

There are two registration pass types available to Participants: 

Participant (Profile Manager):
The Participant (Profile Manager) pass is for the individual within your organisation responsible for your Participant profile at FIA Connect. To ensure your profile remains secure, there is only one Profile Manager pass available per company. 

Within 48 hours of registering, your Profile Manager will be emailed a guide to building your profile and a link to your private Exhibitor Area. Here they will be able to build your profile, add staff members to manage enquiries and upload resources to your profile. 

Please note: team members intended to manage enquiries and meeting requests through the Participant profile can only be registered through the Exhibitors Area. You will not be able to add team members to the Participant profile unless they are registered through the Exhibitors Area. 

Participant:
The Participant pass is for any other members of your team not assisting with managing your profile or taking meeting requests but interested in attending FIA Connect.

How do I set up my company’s Participant profile?

Within 48 hours of registering, your company's Profile Manager will receive an email containing a link to your private Exhibitor Area on the FIA Connect platform. 

Once they have received this email and clicked on the link, they will be directed to your Exhibitor Area to set up your Participant profile.

Am I able to change Profile Managers for my company?

It is possible to change the Profile Manager for your company. Simply contact your Account Manager with your details and the details of the new Profile Manager.

Please note, if you have started setting up your Participant profile, your progress may be lost so we recommend keeping a copy of all of the information you plan to upload to your profile.

How do I register staff members on my Participant profile?

Once you have accessed your Exhibitors Area, you will find a section called: ‘Staff Members’.

In the 'Staff Members' section, you will be able to send registration invites to the staff members who you would like to manage incoming meeting requests through your Participant profile.

How do I upload documents to my Participant profile?

Once you have accessed your Exhibitors Area, you will find a section called: ‘Brochures and files’.

In the 'Brochures and files' section, you will be able to upload the resources you would like to share with Trade Visitors and fellow Participants. Uploading resources in a PDF format where possible is recommended.

How do I add someone already registered to be a staff member on our Participant profile?

If you are trying to register a staff member on your profile and they have already registered for the event, you will receive the following error message:

“This user is already attending the event and can’t be added. Please, contact the organiser for removing it from the attendee list.”

Staff members intended to manage enquiries and meeting requests through the Participant profile can only be registered through the Exhibitors Area. You will not be able to add team members to the Participant profile unless they are registered through the Exhibitors Area.

If the team member you are trying to add has already registered and needs to be removed so that they can be added as staff member on your profile, please contact your Account Manager with their details so that the registration can be deleted.
 

How do I register colleagues who will not be part of the profile team for FIA Connect?

Any colleagues wishing to register for FIA Connect should register as a Participant using the private link emailed to your company’s main contact for the Farnborough International Airshow.

If you have not received the private link to register as a Participant, please contact your Account Manager.

Can I organise my own event and how do I add this event to the FIA Connect programme?

Throughout FIA Connect week our "Other Events" programme shines a light on the variety of other events created by organisations from across the industry, with businesses showcasing their latest developments and insight.

Listing sessions on the "Other Events" programme is a facility available to companies who were due to exhibit at the Farnborough International Airshow 2020; however, the content of the session must be relevant to the FIA Connect audience.

Your application may be unsuccessful if your planned session does not meet this criteria.

If you have an event that you would like to share as part of the Other Events programme, please fill out an Application Form and read our guide to Sharing Your Events at FIA Connect.

If your content does not meet the "Other Events" criteria it is still possible to promote your business across social media using #FIAConnect.

I have submitted the details of my planned session - when will it be listed on the FIA Connect platform?

Once submitted, all application forms for the "Other Events" programme are reviewed by the FIA Connect team to ensure that we have all of the information needed to list the event on the platform.

Due to the high level of demand from Participants, it may take up to 48 hours for us to reply to your application.

You will then receive an email from our team to confirm that:

  • Your application has been successful and your event will be added to the "Other Events" programme shortly
  • Your application has been successful, however we require more information from you before we can add your event to the "Other Events" programme
  • Your application has not been successful on this occasion and will not be added to the "Other Events" programme​

Sharing Your Event FAQs

Can I organise my own event and how do I add this event to the FIA Connect programme?

Listing sessions on the Other Events programme is available to those companies who were due to exhibit at the Farnborough International Airshow 2020 and the content of the session must be relevant to the FIA Connect audience.

Networking FAQs

When will the FIA Connect networking programme be available?

The networking programme is due to go live closer to the event and the FIA Connect team will be sending joining instructions and guidance notes to all registrants once the programme goes live.

Who can I request meetings with?

All visitors to FIA Connect will be able to request meetings with Participant companies via the Participant profiles listed on the FIA Connect platform.

However, it is not possible to request meetings with fellow visitors via the FIA Connect platform.

The networking programme is due to go live closer to the event and the FIA Connect team will be sending joining instructions and guidance notes to all registrants once the programme goes live.

How many meeting requests will I be able to send?

As part of your registration for FIA Connect, you will have access to a total of 10 meeting requests per day throughout the week, allowing you to book meetings with staff members from Participant companies.

Please note: the number of meeting requests you will be able to make is limited to 10 regardless of whether your meeting request is accepted or rejected. Rejected meeting requests will not be credited back to your account, therefore we advise that you use your requests strategically to ensure the most success from your networking access.

Media FAQs

Will media be in attendance at FIA Connect and how do we interact with them?

Yes. Media will be in attendance throughout FIA Connect with access to the full programme of FINN Sessions, Global Urban Air Summit 2.0, ADS, and Farnborough Friday, as well as partner events.

Those registered with a Media Pass will also have access to our networking programme, allowing them to request meetings with any of our Participant companies.

Additionally, there will be a digital press box available prior to the event which will enable Participant companies to submit press releases to be shared with the media.

The FIA Connect team will be sending joining instructions and guidance notes to all Participants once the press box goes live.

How do I share my event or session with the media?

Will there be more digital events like this in the future run by Farnborough International Airshow?
